Why this Academy: An Exhibition of Artwork by PAFA Faculty

Exhibition Info
Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building
A showcase of artwork by instructors across PAFA Fine Arts programs, this exhibition highlights the dedicated studio practices of esteemed mentors and their creativity beyond the classroom.

Why This Academy celebrates the diverse group of influential faculty at PAFA. As practicing artists setting the foundation for the next generation of makers, the faculty are integral to the Academy and its longstanding educational history. This show emphasizes the wide range of artistic areas being taught across programsfrom painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media.

Through exceptional mentorship, personalized studio guidance, and constructive critique dialogue, PAFA provides a dynamic and supportive learning environment for artists of all levels. At the heart of PAFA’s vibrant community is a devoted faculty, nurturing talent and sparking the creative journeys that shape the future of American art. What lingers well after class ends is the instructor's advice, the critic's words that inspire during challenging studio days, and the mentor's guidance that fuels creative leaps. This exhibition honors the commitment of PAFA faculty and offers a glimpse of both their impressive artistic approaches, as well as their teaching practices.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, October 16th from 4 PM—6 PM.
