Why This Academy: An Exhibition of Artwork by PAFA Faculty
Join us for the Opening Reception of Why this Academy on Thursday, October 16th from 4pm–6pm.
Why This Academy celebrates the diverse group of influential faculty at PAFA. A showcase of artwork by Foundations, Studio Residency, Post-Baccalaureate, and Continuing Education Program instructors, this exhibit highlights the dedicated studio practices of esteemed mentors and their creativity beyond the classroom. As practicing artists setting the foundation for the next generation of makers, the faculty are integral to the Academy and its longstanding educational history.
This show emphasizes the wide range of artistic areas being taught across programs—from painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media. Through exceptional mentorship, personalized studio guidance, and constructive critique dialogue, the educational platforms at PAFA establish a dynamic and supportive learning environment for artists of all levels.
At the core of this rigorous and vibrant community is the devoted faculty, making PAFA the gem that it is and helping students launch into their creative journeys. It is the instructor's advice that lingers well after class ends; the critic's words that inspire during challenging studio days; the mentor's guidance that fuels creative leaps. This exhibit honors the commitment of PAFA faculty and offers a glimpse of both their impressive artistic approaches, as well as their teaching practices.
