A Singular School: Selections from the School Collection
A Singular School: Selections from the PAFA School Collection offers a unique showcase of painting—from representation, abstraction, and the blurred lines and imagined spaces in between. The selections in this exhibit feature student and alumni artwork from PAFA’s Certificate, Undergraduate, and Graduate Programs.
The heart of what makes PAFA a special and dynamic sanctuary for learning and making is its vibrant community of artists—from the students engaged in the classroom or immersed in the studio, to the alumni involved in maintaining connection and presence beyond their matriculated days, and to the faculty dedicated to passing on knowledge and creating a path forward for generations of artists. The makers create the magic that is the School of the Fine Arts at PAFA and become woven into the fabric of the collection, a singular thread a time.
This exhibition celebrates moments of this larger framework through the lens of painting. It demonstrates the ways in which PAFA students discover their place within art historical and contemporary contexts while honing their individualized voices with each mark that touches the surface.
