STORIES FROM PAFA

Documentary | The Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Faculty Recollections

The recently premiered documentary, The Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Faculty Recollections, celebrates the personal and professional journeys of six esteemed faculty members. Created as an independent study project by Nina Byerly (BFA ’24) and Raffi Zarzatian (BFA ’24) as part of the Art and Professional Practice seminar, the film explores the cherished memories of faculty members during their time as Academy students and later as appointed members of PAFA’s faculty.

Recollections by PAFA Faculty was initiated as an independent study project prior to the unexpected announcement of the changes the Academy is now experiencing. That auspicious coincidence underscores the video and its significance, for now and for posterity. Many heartfelt thanks to the interviewed faculty for their time and for their thoughtful recollections now shared with the PAFA community. Special thanks to Nina Byerly and Raffi Zarzatian for their enthusiasm, diligence, and commitment to this project, and to the general course expectations.
