Summer Academy

This four-week, college-level art-making experience is the definitive program for talented and motivated high school students to excel at the nation's first and premier school of fine art. Students earn college credit, develop a portfolio, visit the area's finest museum collections and work directly with distinguished college faculty. Scholarships and residency placements are available.

One-Week Summer Intensives

PAFA's one-week summer intensive courses are open to teens of all skill levels and backgrounds who have completed grades 8-12. These courses enable students to develop and hone their skills under the guidance of stellar PAFA faculty. College credits are available.

Student Docent Program

PAFA partners with local schools to allow students grades 7–12 to train with professionals to become museum guides. Students earn a PAFA membership and develop critical leadership skills. Participating schools gain an unparalleled learning experience for their classes and a free field trip.

PAFA's Youth Council is a free, paraprofessional after-school program that offers interested teens a chance to create a prominent place for young audiences in the daily life of the museum.

Fall and Spring Pre-College Programs

PAFA's School of Fine Arts offers year-round studio art courses for high school students. Students can gain a head start on portfolio development for college applications, earn college credits, and work alongside other creative, motivated students while learning from PAFA's outstanding academic faculty.

After-School Studio Arts Program for High School Students

PAFA provides studio art training to high school students grade 9-12 from over 50 Philadelphia schools.  Our program offers teens who have little or no access to an art program an opportunity to acquire a solid foundation in the fine arts.  This non-credit program emphasizes building a portfolio, developing skills, and artistic growth.
