Jessica Abel, an award-winning cartoonist, illustrator, and business coach for creatives, is the chair of PAFA's Illustration program. She is the author of critically acclaimed books including La Perdida, Out on the Wire: The Storytelling Secrets of the New Masters of Radio, and Trish Trash: Rollergirl of Mars. Illustration clients have included the American Library Association, Viking Books, the New York Times, NBC, the Wall Street Journal, the LA Times, and the Village Voice.

Abel has taught comics, narrative, illustration, and entrepreneurship at several institutions, including the School of Visual Arts in New York, the California College of Arts, the European School of Visual Arts (France), and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
