Two visual perspectives of New York City by Georgia O’Keeffe and Max Weber on loan to PAFA from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid

In the summer of 2012, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) became home to two extraordinary paintings by Georgia O’Keeffe and Max Weber, two of the most influential American modernists of their generation. O’Keeffe’s New York by Moon (1925) and Weber’s Grand Central Terminal (1915) were on loan from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, Spain. Both present radically different views of New York City at a time in which many artists were energized about depicting the rapidly changing urban experience.
