Philadelphia Prototype 2002, Robert Ryman

PAFA has paused our scheduled public programming for this week. We are taking this time to listen, to reflect, and to honor Black voices in our community. We encourage our audiences to do the same.

Join PAFA Museum Director Brooke Davis Anderson, David Gray, who worked on the catalog raisonne of Ryman, and son of the artist Cordy Ryman for a conversation about the artist’s practice and his site-specific piece at PAFA.

Since 2005, PAFA has been the home to a major late work Philadelphia Prototype 2002, described as the culmination of many aspects of Ryman’s practice, from the possibilities of white, faith in materials, exploration of the space around the painting, and the meditative experience of abstraction.

Learn more about this artist often allied with monochrome painting and minimalism in this Friday conversation.
