Diane Collins studied the figure at the Hussian School of Art, Fleisher Art Memorial, and West Chester University, and is a graduate of PAFA, where she was the recipient of the Ward Prize in Sculpture and the Cresson Memorial Travel Scholarship among other awards. Previously she worked independently as an illustrator, and with Madison & Co. of New York as graphic designer and assistant art director.  She was responsible for a collection of toy prototype designs (and construction) for Tyco, Matel and Playschool.

Collins has taught at Fleisher Art Memorial, Main Line Art Center and Wayne Art Center, as well as independently.  Her courses have included Beginning Drawing, Animal Drawing, Animal Sculpture and Direct Wax workshops, as well as a workshop and lecture at Ring Lake Ranch, WY, on "Art, Spirit and Nature." She was selected for a teaching residency at Millcreek School in Philadelphia and Middle Township School in NJ.

She has exhibited at Stanek Gallery, Cerulean Arts, Rosenfeld, Crane Arts, Arnot Art Museum and Artist's House on the East Coast, as well as Mateel Gallery in the California Redwoods. Her work is in private collections throughout the U.S., as well as in Sidney, London, Barcelona and Tokyo.

While Collins maintains her studies in animal anatomy, her personal work is infused with an emotional life that goes beyond the figure. She invites the viewer into and through each subject's open form while presenting the unexpected through the incorporation of found objects.

Collins currently teaches animal drawing and sculpture courses in PAFA's Continuing Education Program.
