PAFA Welcomes New Board of Trustee Members

PHILADELPHIA (July 6, 2015) -- The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is pleased to welcome three new resident trustees, two new national trustees and a new ex-officio member to its board of trustees. The new members of the board were elected during PAFA's June Board Meeting.

PAFA Board Chair Kevin F. Donohoe says, "These outstanding individuals' leadership and scope of knowledge will be essential to PAFA's continued success in fulfilling its mission of promoting the transformative power of art and art making. We are thrilled to welcome them to PAFA's board of trustees."

The new resident trustees are:

JOSEPH D. CULLEY JR. is Co-Head, Investment Banking, at Janney Montgomery Scott. Mr. Culley is currently serving on the Board of Managers of Janney Montgomery Scott and on the Board of Directors of the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. He previously served on the boards of Philadelphia Securities Association and J-Net Global Indexes LLC. In recent years, Mr. Culley has served as the Janney liaison for PAFA's annual Bacchanal Wine Gala and Auction.

PIA HALLORAN is a longtime member of the Women's Board of PAFA. She is an active member of PAFA's Bacchanal Committee and is serving as co-chair. She also has served as co-chair of PAFA's Annual Student Exhibition and the Cecilia Beaux exhibition opening. Ms. Holloran has served in fundraising leadership roles events including the Community of Cancer Support Fashion Show, the Consular Corps Gala, and the Art After Dark Committee at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

J. BRIEN MURPHY, M.D. is a retired surgeon and professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, Department of Plastic Surgery. He has served as a trustee of the Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation and is a member of the Board of Consultors at the Villanova University College of Nursing. Dr. Murphy also serves as a member of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Committee on Philanthropy.

The new national trustees are:

REGINALD BROWNE is Senior Managing Director and Head of ETF Trading at global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald LP in New York, N.Y. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Browne served as Managing Editor and Senior Trader at Knight Capital Group Inc., which he built into one of the world's top ETF trading firms. Forbes Magazine has dubbed him "The Godfather of ETFs" for his prowess as a market-maker and innovator.

KENNETH WOODCOCK is a retired executive of the AES Corp., a power company based in Virginia with foreign operations on five continents. During his 23-years with AES, he held many senior positions before retiring as senior vice president in 2004. Mr. Woodcock has served on boards of numerous organizations, including National Foreign Trade Council, National Cathedral School, Choral Arts Society of Washington, World Wildlife Fund, Washington Concert Opera, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Land Trust Alliance, and National Trust for Historic Preservation.  

The new ex-officio member is:

HELEN HAYNES is Chief Cultural Officer for Philadelphia's Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy. In her leadership role, Ms. Haynes manages and oversees the largest and oldest public art program in the country, and serves as the primary point of municipal contact for the arts and cultural community.Prior to joining Creative Philadelphia, Ms. Haynes served for 12 years as Director of the Office of Cultural Affairs at Montgomery County Community College.
