Statement from jurors Anne Minich (Cert. '55) and Sarah Hunter (Cert. '05):

The chosen work is representational in nature and offers a contemporary response to still life, interior space and the figure. It addresses narrative, and asks the viewer to question the nature of art and its relationship to our intellect, perceptions, desires, motivations, specifically and to the larger community and world, in general. We hope that the grouping connects the viewer to the time we live in with all its mundane, mysterious, tragic, joyous, confusing, humorous, desperate and ultimately life-affirming aspects.
