Clarity Haynes  (Cert. '03) portraits of bodies do not conform. Like other artists in Taking Space, Haynes’ work insists on making spaces for bodies and ideas that mainstream culture traditionally pushes to the margins.

In conversation with PAFA colleagues Dr. Brittany Webb, Curator of Twentieth-Century Art, and Monica Zimmerman, Vice President of Public Education and Engagement, join this lauded PAFA alumnus for a conversation that challenges ideas about “normal” bodies, visualizing trauma, erasure of the queer body and what it means to have a feminist curatorial practice in the 21st century.

This conversation is a preview of ideas that will be explored further in Haynes’ upcoming multi-week class, Dangerous Bodies. This program is offered in conjunction with the exhibitions Only Tony: Portraits by Gilbert Lewis and Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale.
