Relax after your day with a virtual evening of casual conversation and adult coloring book time with artist Chitra Ganesh. Across a twenty-year practice, Ganesh has developed an expansive body of work through studies in literature, semiotics, social theory, science fiction, and historical and mythic texts, attempting to reconcile representations of femininity, sexuality, and power absent from the artistic and literary canons.
In conjunction with her installation of animations currently on view in PAFA's Illuminate the Plaza Project, Ganesh joins PAFA virtually to talk about her work and practice and introduce her recent project, the Queer Power Coloring Book, a collection of illustrations that document, archive, uplift and honor LGBTQIA+ histories, with a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic years. Participants will receive 8 pages of the coloring book to print out and color along with the artist during the program, while the entire book can be purchased here (free shipping with promo code PAFA 2022). We hope you'll join us for this important conversation and opportunity to commune with the artist, breathe deeply and celebrate the ongoing work of broadening the canon of contemporary art.
