SECOND LINE Scratchboard, 16 x 20,Kate Samworth

Kate Samworth has been responding to nature and environmental change for nearly 30 years. In this lecture, she will share how her approach has changed over time, from allegory to satire to fantasy, and about her experience as an illustrator of books for adults and children.

More about the artist:

Kate Samworth studied painting at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art and earned a BFA from PAFA, with a major in printmaking. Samworth was awarded the Richard von Hess Travel Scholarship, which she used to travel to Spain and Turkey, where she volunteered on organic farms for 6 months. She has exhibited across the US and abroad and is currently illustrating her fourth book.

Program Support

The fall's Art-at-Lunch lectures are supported by the Behrend Family in memory of Rose Susan Hirschhorn Behrend, a former docent at the Academy and great supporter of its education programs.
