Anthony Ciambella received a Certificate in painting and completed PAFA’s Conservation Apprenticeship Program. He has been teaching at PAFA for over 25 years. He works as a painter, sculptor, photographer and mixed media and digital artist. Intrigued by ancient civilizations, ethnography and rituals, he draws on a wide range of artistic traditions. He is also a painting conservator, practicing in Philadelphia for more than 35 years, including PAFA, the Barnes Foundation and numerous public and private collections.

He has exhibited works in many group and solo exhibitions throughout the Philadelphia area and is represented in various private collections. His awards include several PAFA Fellowship Prizes, the Samuel Fleisher Memorial Challenge Award and the 2010 Academy Faculty Development Grant.

Ciambella teaches a class on Materials and Techniques in the Certificate/BFA program as well as the Continuing Education program. His Materials and Techniques class explores the consequences of using the materials available to artists today and their compatibility and durability over time. He is also an ASE Associate and coordinates PAFA's Anatomy Drawing Program at the Hahnemann Hospital of Drexel University.
