Director of Archives, Library, & Collections, Hoang Tran, joined PAFA in September 2014. Tran is a Certified Archivist with over a decade of successful experience in promoting efficient collection management techniques. He holds a B.A. in History from Rutgers University and a M.L.I.S from Drexel University. Tran is currently responsible for all activities involving PAFA’s collection research and stewardship including the development and implementation of policies and workflows surrounding access, discovery, preservation (analog and digital collections), digitization, cataloging, digital asset management, and grant writing.

With generous support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Tran launched PAFA's Digital Archives in 2017 to promote greater public access to archival materials as well as historical resources (https://pafaarchives.org/). In 2019, he was the project director for the Rediscovering John Rhoden Project to process and digitize the artist's papers, supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (https://johnrhoden.pafaarchives.org/).

Tran's professional affiliations include serving as former Treasurer of the Delaware Valley Archivists Group (2016-2020) and currently volunteers for the Society of American Archivists mentoring program.
