Untitled

Stanley Whitney

Stanley Whitney's black and white drawings on mylar are not studies for his colorful paintings but are a parallel activity. Because Whitney regards color as such a complex component of his abstract images, he here suppresses it, working only in black and white to better see the pure raw element of drawing. Whitney's drawing is an abstract expressionist work with elements of chance and control handily balanced.
