Still Life with Hanging Bird: A Pair
Alexander Pope
In both paintings (see 2006.10.10) a single bird is hung from a string on a green door. In this, the first of the pair (2006.10.10), a brown-feathered bird hangs upside down tied by a string (that dangles from a nail) to his proper left leg. The head with its long beak faces right.
