The Letter
Charles Rudy
A precocious student of Charles Grafly and Albert Laessles-two leading Academy sculptors- Rudy is best known for his animal carvings and nudes. "The Letter," a prize -winning work in the Academy's 1947 annual exhibition, marked a departure for the artist, as one of his few portrait busts. Appropriately, this representation of his wife, Lorraine Rudy, was selected by her as a gift for the Museum, to be made upon her death.
