Imaginary Worker (His Geometry)
Irving Petlin
In the series "Worker's Rage" , Petlin, in response to high unemployment rates, expresses his sympathies for the unemployed whom he feels are at the mercy of an impersonal financial establishment. The figures float in a disjointed, unreal space: in the painting, one figure expresses, graphically, his frustration by beating on a huge boulder.
