Hugh A. Cannon

Henry Clay (1777-1852) was born in Hanover County, Virginia. A lawyer by training, he served in the US Senate from 1806-11. Then he served in the House of Representatives from 1811 to 1825 and was the secretary of state from 1825-27 under John Quincy Adams.
