Great Head - Low Tide

Edna Andrade

Although best-known for her rigorously planned geometric abstractions, Andrade was an accomplished, even visionary landscape artist. Towards the end of her life she made a series of large drawings of shore rocks, each one minutely observed and realized through an array of little marks. In these late works as in her complex optical-pattern paintings, she pushed the limits of perception and simultaneously suggested infinity.
