The Bacchic Dancer

Emily Clayton Bishop

Bishop executed a number of relief studies for her composition classes at the Academy. Students were instructed to use dance as a subject because it expressed a joyful active life. This low relief is a fine example of Bishop's appreciation of the beauty of motion.
