Many artists feel frustrated when facing a blank canvas, unsure how to begin or what to paint. This workshop helps students paint with confidence by introducing techniques that tap into intuition and make inspiration more accessible. Students will be encouraged to take risks, explore unexpected directions, and embrace accidental marks as opportunities for artistic discovery.

Through the use of line, color, space, and editing strategies, participants will learn how to create areas of activity and calm, establish focal points, and develop paintings rooted in personal imagery, expression, and imagination. Instruction includes PowerPoint presentations, examples from modern and contemporary artists, and one-on-one critiques during live Zoom sessions designed to support open painting time in a classroom-like environment.

Note: Painting experience recommended. Live Zoom sessions only.
