Shushana Rucker, Idaho Field, 2017, oil, 11x13 in.

Have you been using a painting knife to mix colors, but aren’t sure how to use it to apply paint? PAFA alumna and CE faculty member Shushana Rucker will demonstrate how to achieve descriptive results with a painting knife in this online workshop. Learn how to create beautifully crisp edges, fine details, and a range of mark-making effects using a palette knife and oil paint. Blade brushes and alternative painting tools will be introduced.  Students will gain an understanding of color mixing and design, as well as alla prima painting methods, with a specific focus toward architectural and landscape subjects. Instruction will be presented through short video tutorials, printable directions, and Zoom videoconferencing.
