Advanced Portrait Drawing Workshop (In-Person) with RA Friedman
This intensive in-person workshop is designed for students looking to advance their portrait drawing skills toward a professional level. Through demonstrations and in-class exercises, participants will learn how to see, think, and approach creating a likeness while avoiding common pitfalls. Emphasis will be placed on subtleties of form, the relationships of lines, planes, and tones, and capturing the character and energy of the subject.
Instruction will also cover facial expressions and the deeper anatomy of the face, neck, and upper body. Drawing will be primarily in graphite pencil and stick. Introductory portrait drawing or equivalent experience is recommended.
Note: Tuition includes a $10 model fee.
For more foundational instruction, see the instructor’s Portrait in Pencil Workshop (not required for enrollment in this Advanced workshop).
