Richard Estell received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA from Cornell University. He also studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Estell has had one-person shows at the Ruth Siegal Gallery, N.Y.; the Butler Institute of American Art, Swarthmore College; Claramont Gallery, N.Y.; F.A.N. Gallery, Philadelphia; Charles Chamot Gallery, N.J.; St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia; David Findlay Galleries, N.Y.; and Cerulean Arts in Philadelphia, where he is currently represented. His work is in public and private collections and has been included in group exhibitions at galleries, museums and colleges throughout the United States.  

His teaching experience includes Cornell University, Drexel University, Swarthmore College, PAFA, the University of Pennsylvania and the Community College of Philadelphia.

Estell’s painting has been written about in a number of publications, including Art and Antiques, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and American Artist. His work has been on the cover of Epoch magazine and was also the subject of a profile on the Financial News Network.   

Estell teaches watercolor in the Continuing Education program.
