Standing Female Nude
John Bernard Flannagan
Best known for his modernist sculpture, Flannagan was also a talented draftsman. This early drawing reflects his interest in stylized forms, particularly female nudes, which he pursued in various stone media throughout his career. The work compliments a later drawing of a similar subject by the artist - executed in a looser, more naturalistic style in the Museum's collection; "Nude."
