Or This Way

"Or This Way" consists of oval shapes filled in with impossibly thin parallel lines. This series of shapes evokes stone walls in Ireland, cells, or other microscopic material revealed and frozen for the viewer. This piece relies on a system of marks, gestures, and shapes that Bowlby repeats gradually throughout the process of making the drawing. It demands to be viewed from multiple viewing positions as the imagery changes in exciting and meaningful ways with the proximity of the viewer.
