The Old Museum

Rubens Peale

Rubens Peale was the youngest son of Charles Willson Peale and his first wife, Rachel. This painting, possibly painted after a small sketch by Charles’s brother James, shows the Peale home and museum, complete with skylights added for a portrait gallery in 1782.
