Negro Boy Dancing: Perspective Study

Thomas Eakins

Two sheets together comprise a preparatory drawing for "Negro Boy Dancing," also known as "The Negroes," "Study for Negroes," or "The Dancing Lesson." The drawing is at the scale of the finished watercolor, and all three figures are seen in their final poses, at the same depth, and in relation to one another as in the watercolor.
