Susan Macdowell Eakins
This painting may be "Rehearsal," a work for which Eakins received an award in the student gallery of Pennsylvania Academy's annual exhibition of 1879. Music-making was a favorite activity in the MacDowell family home, as well in the home that she shared with her husband and father-in-law after 1886.
