Greed

Emily Clayton Bishop

Bishop probably made this small figure group for one of Grafly's composition classes. The composition consists of three figures - a man, a woman, and a large feline - intertwined or wrestling on a set of stairs. The dense tangle of limbs conveys emotional and physical endurance pushed to their limits. The female figure holds the skin of an animal's face in her right hand. The male figure is reminiscent of Rodin's "Thinker," 1879-89.
