This painting on paper has been made using a stencil and spray paint. A deconstructed American flag is in the foreground, running along the bottom of the paper. The tattered/ deconstructed flag elements resemble collage, but careful scrutiny reveals the artists' dexterous use of spray paint and stenciling- the fragments are indeed painted. In the background, a landscape appears to have been devastated by an explosion. A dark, ominous sky, created through deft handling of aerosol paint, contributes to the dark sensibility of the work.
