Custom Made
Riva Helfond
Less labor-intensive than intaglio printmaking, lithography involves drawing on a smooth stone with a crayon. Due to the ease of application, Helfond was able to swiftly delineate the hunched-over figure in 'Custom Made' who is resolutely finishing a garment into the night. Helfond also exploited the medium's capacity to produce high contrast between light and shadow to further dramatize the scene.
