Rawdon, Wright & Hatch after Karl Bodmer

The Swiss artist, Karl Bodmer accompanied the Prince Maximillian of Neuwied on his travels in America from 1832-34. The account of his trip was published in German, with 82 aquatint illustrations made in Europe, in 1839. These American steel engravings may be based on the original watercolors or, more likely, the published illustrations.
