Join us for a special screening of the film, Nothing in the Way of Beauty, directed by Sue Schardt. One spark of inspiration is cast across five generations into the rushing creative culture of city. Sam Fleisher opened a school with the hope that beauty might flourish amidst Philadelphia’s turn-of-the-century industrial waste and congestion. We meet three artists who are making Sam’s dream their own. Through them, we learn ways of art as living and, sometimes, ways of surviving.

The film features three Philadelphia artists, Chelsey Dalsey, Tina LeCoff, and Phoebe Murer, and is made in community with the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial.

Marshall Allen and Kash Killion of the Sun Ra Arkestra will join us for a very special set in advance of the screening.

Doors open at 6:00 PM and the program begins at 6:30 PM.
