Renowned for her soak-stained abstract paintings, Helen Frankenthaler’s work in Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting has been the subject of numerous exhibitions and scholarship. This spring, concurrent with PAFA’s own print exhibition At One Stroke, Curator Lynn Marsden-Atlass expands upon Frankenthaler’s legacy with an exhibition of the artist’s rarely seen acrylics on paper and prints that date from 1970 to 1993, works that reflect Frankenthaler’s painterly process and experimentation with the medium. The works are on view in Frankenthaler on Paper at the Arthur Ross Gallery on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania through March 29th.
