This four-part series, taught by scholar Imani Roach, will present some of the major movements and enduring themes in the history of African American art from the 19th century until the present day.
Lectures will pay special attention to the socio-political context within which black artists have worked and will highlight connections both to Afro-diasporic traditions and to the history of American Art.
Important Note: To help accommodate diverse schedules, individual class sessions will be recorded and made available to class participants for a week after each class takes place.
