Curator's Tour of Strange Sensations
Join us for a curator's tour of Strange Sensations: The Startling and Surreal in PAFA’s Permanent Collection, an exhibition highlighting the human experience with artworks that find both beauty and humor through the macabre. Curated by Christiana Cruz-Council, Strange Sensations features works by 34 artists, including Peter Dean, Nancy Grossman, and Andy Warhol, and brings together 20th and 21st-century works of art that consider mysterious and otherworldly energies through a post-Surrealist lens.
Christiana Cruz-Council is a Philadelphia native and a graduate of the University of Scranton. Christiana is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies at Harvard University. Until recently, Christiana was PAFA's Museum Coordinator, where she discovered a passion for public education and led private and public tours of PAFA's collection. Christiana’s curatorial debut, Strange Sensations: The Startling and Surreal in PAFA’s Permanent Collection, opened in June of 2022 and is on view through April 2023. Christiana also co-curated Evade and Ensnare: Decorative Illusionism in Historic and Contemporary Painting with Juan Omar Rodriguez, on view through January 8, 2023.
Registration includes the entrance fee to PAFA's Museum.
