Fine art produced by artists of African descent have become some of the most actively sought by collectors and museums in the marketplace. Why and how has this market developed so rapidly within the last twenty years? Halima Taha, author of Collecting African American Art: Works on Paper and Canvas, the first book to validate fine art by American artists of African descent as viable assets and commodities, brings insights from her expertise as an appraiser, art advisor, educator and cultural advocate to answer this question.
