This untitled drawing represents a series of disparate images rendered in a style that emulates advertising graphics and printed imagery from trade catalogues. Several of the objects and details possess suggestive forms that bring unusual formal associations to mind. For instance, the water bottle in the immediate foreground resembles a heart with its blood vessels dangling free. A man's head sprouts from a metal ring in the floor, yet his skull erupts with incongruent symbols and objects, including a drum, boxing glove, and dollar sign. The entire scene appears to take place on a stage. In the background a pair of curtains have been drawn back to reveal a woman performing with an elephant (near an oversized toothbrush). Our place as a viewer appears to be on stage with the strange objects and body fragments looking out beyond parted curtains.
