While Louis Lozowick’s lithographs often displayed scenes of figures among bridges, streets, factories, and construction sites from within the city, the panoramic view of 'Storm over Manhattan' excludes any reference to the lives of the inhabitants. Instead, it celebrates urban modernization through the dramatically rising architecture. The brightly lit, streamlined skyscrapers appear as robust, stable structures against the tumultuous skies.
