"Pine" is an abstract composition that showcases the use of staining, calligraphy-like gesture, and color. On a white ground, Glidden has applied an all-over wash of blue. In several areas, the white ground is visible underneath blue drips - especially at bottom and around the edges. Circular and calligraphic gestures can be seen throughout the canvas; some are black, but white and orange are also evident. In the upper third of the canvas are hints of rectilinear forms, counterbalancing the more spontaneous curvy gestures. At center, a diagonal white painted line bisects the canvas, while a yellow circular pattern floats in the blue expanse. In various areas of the canvas, Glidden has chosen a thicker application of paint selecting green, orange, and a mix of white and pink for this task.
