Student painting a still life

Join Scott Noel, Painting Professor, and the Office of Admissions on March 25th at 5pm for a presentation and demonstration on painting at PAFA. Scott will show videos to demonstrate the learning tools in the classroom, other artists of inspiration, and his own practice. This event is free, conducted over zoom, and is designed for prospective and accepted undergraduate students. Please contact admissions@pafa.edu with any questions.

The painting department at PAFA encourages imagination and creativity through skills-based training and critical and aesthetic understanding. Students explore themes in observational painting, classical representation, abstraction, and conceptual approaches through a wide variety of classes that include still-life, landscape, figure painting, and non-representational modes of working.

Scott Noel began teaching and exhibiting in Philadelphia in 1980, after completing undergraduate study at Washington University in Saint Louis. Since that time he has mounted over 30 solo exhibitions at galleries, universities and museums as well as many group shows. Solo shows have appeared at the State Museum in Harrisburg, the University of Virginia, the Bowery Gallery, the Painting Center and fifteen exhibitions at the More Gallery, Mangel Art Gallery and Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia.
