This collaboration between the curatorial department and the museum education department looks at connections and contrasts in our collection of works created since 1960

This collaboration between the curatorial department and the museum education department took a fresh look at connections and contrasts in our collection of works created since 1960. Giant spiders, landscapes made of light, love letters to Philadelphia, and a star-spangled banner arrayed against writhing organic life are among the provocative images included. Drawing on recent acquisitions, including many major gifts to the collection, the installation explored shifting views of landscape, place, abstraction, and selfhood. Among the artists included were Joan Brown, Squeak Carnwath, Willie Cole, Viola Frey, Hope Gangloff, Leon Golub, Yvonne Jacquette, Ellen Lanyon, Hung Liu, Catherine Murphy, Elizabeth Murray, Odili Donald Odita, Christina Ramberg, Alison Saar, Mark Dean Veca, and Kara Walker.
