James L. Claghorn

Edward Sheffield Bartholomew

James L. Claghorn (1817-1884) was president of the board of directors of the Academy from 1872 to his death. The bust exhibits conventions of the neoclassical school, such as the smooth surface and the dead eye, and gives the bust a noble and timeless quality.
