This Month's Project

This month, we are creating beautiful collage self-portraits inspired by A Nation of Artists.
This project is based on the first theme of our landmark exhibition A Nation of Artists, Prosperity, Abundance, and Inequity. Portraiture has long tracked how we present ourselves to the world, and to each other. This theme explores how prosperity and inequality have shaped American art through depicting ourselves and others.
This September, create your own portrait by using the foundational Academy Portrait Drawing structure for teaching how to draw a face as a departure point. This cut-and-paste collage project will then use mixed materials to build your own abstract or realistic portrait.
We're so excited you're planning to visit PAFA!
Make time for art — visit us Thursday to Sunday.
