The first in a series of exhibitions curated by PAFA students, based on the newly-developed course "Museums: History and Practice"

PAFA Students Select: The Spaces They Inhabit is the first in a series of exhibitions, curated by Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) students, based on Museums: History and Practice, a newly-developed course by art history faculty member Jennifer Zwilling. Discovering that space in artwork is open to various interpretations, including psychological and conceptual, the students mined PAFA’s rich collection of works on paper focusing on these questions:

What space can a piece create?
What kinds of spaces can it reference?
What is the space the artist intends for the viewer to experience?

Visitors had an opportunity to explore PAFA’s collection through the eyes of student artists who are in the process of forming their own artistic visions.
