Apply to PAFA

You will create the following accounts to apply:
1. PAFA is accessible through the Common App, if you are already using it. If not, you can access everything starting with step 2. Create a Self Service Center account to access PAFA's application platform. Common App users also create a Self Service Center account to view their progress.
3. Create a Slideroom account to submit your portfolio.

  • 2021 Common Application
    PAFA BFA and PAFA-Penn BFA applicants may submit their PAFA application here. The Common App is not accepted for the Penn portion of the PAFA-Penn BFA application.
  • PAFA-Penn BFA Application
    Submit the Penn portion of your application to the PAFA-Penn BFA program.
  • Certificate Programs
    PAFA offers two, one-year Certificate Programs: Studio Art and Foundations 
  • Access Slideroom
    Submit your portfolio here.
  • Self-Service Center
    Continue your in-progress application or check on your application status.

Your application will be reviewed equally for admission regardless of application method.  Your PAFA Admissions application is your scholarship application—there is no additional form for merit-based scholarship consideration. All complete applications will be considered for scholarship during the review process.

Application Fee

There is an application fee of $60 which is paid online when submitting your application. PAFA does accept fee waivers from the CollegeBoard, NACAC, and School Lunch Program. Students experiencing financial hardship can request a fee waiver by contacting the Admissions Office.

Using the Self Service Center

During the admissions process, applicants may check the status of their application through PAFA's Self-Service Center. To track your progress in completing all the application requirements, use the Applications Summary option.

  • If you applied using PAFA's Application, you can sign in with your application login.
  • Common Application users will need to create a Self Service Center account. Use the same email entered on your Common Application.

Please note that only complete applications will be reviewed for admission. Applicants with missing requirements will be notified and should refer to the Application Summary page to see what materials are incomplete.

Communicating with PAFA

The majority of official correspondence from PAFA Admissions and Financial Aid will be sent to the email you provided on your application. You should check your email regularly to keep up-to-date on your application. Please make sure to add PAFA to your address book to prevent our communications winding up in your Spam folder.
